Street Scenes

A dog's face - woof-woof - click to see slideshow! This is my collection of Paris street scenes, a semi-permanent exhibition of photographs taken all around Paris, mostly in black and white. They are here because they don't really belong in my Photo Gallery; the Gallery documents the city of Paris itself, whereas these pictures document life in Paris, in a more journalistic way. I haven't captioned the photos; I leave interpretation of what they show up to the viewer.

Comments are welcome; you can send me feedback if you'd like to make any, or if you are burning with curiosity about the circumstances of a particular photo or photos. The photos are numbered in case you wish to refer to them in your feedback. I'm interested in knowing which images you like best, which ones you find the least interesting, which ones seem not to fit in with the rest, and so on.

Most of these photos were originally shot in black and white; a few were shot in color, but I changed them to black and white for this gallery because it looked better (sometimes color is just a distraction in street photography). You can consult my Photo FAQ for more technical details on the shots, if you wish.

If for some reason you'd like to use these photos for anything other than your personal use, please see my Image Licensing section for details on how to get permission.

The exhibition is in a simple slide-show format. To start stepping through the photos one by one, click on the doggy at the top of this page, or click here. If you are using Internet Explorer, you can press F11 to switch to full-screen display while you are viewing the pictures; press F11 again to switch back.

(Note: If you are an AOL user and the images look fuzzy, click here for information on how to see them without degradation.)
